Whether you’re needing a pick me up, or are just in the mood for a light read, we could all use a story that makes us feel good every once in a while.
I’ve come across a few particularly cute books over the years that I would recommend to anyone who feels like they could use one. Although some of these may not be the best books ever written, and some are incredibly cheesy, I guarantee that they’re happy reads. And sometimes that’s all we ever need!
Here are some of those books that will make you feel all warm inside:
Autoboyography by Christina Lauren
How can a book be this sweet though? I can’t even explain just how cute this story is. I remember staying up ridiculously late so I could finish this one. It’s super well written, absolutely adorable, and one of my favorites I’ve read this year.
Anna and the French Kiss Series by Stephanie Perkins
These are pretty cheesy, but wow are they fun to read. This series is always a go-to when you’re in the mood for fluffy romance. It’s just very sweet and easy to fly through these. My personal favorite is Anna, but I really did enjoy them all.
Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
This is the only Morgan Matson book I’ve read, but from what I’ve heard, all of her books are just as light and cute. I especially like this one because it focuses on friendship instead of romance, and that was nice for a change.
Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
I had to include this. How could I not? It’s happiness in the form of a book. I’m so glad this one is well loved because it deserves all of the praise. Also, Becky Albertalli is just one heck of a writer.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saénz
I can’t recommend this enough. I’ve never felt so at peace while reading a book in my life. The dynamic between Ari & Dante is unique and precious and beautiful. This’ll forever be a story that I hold close to my heart. Love love love.
The Selection Series by Kiera Cass
Mindless fluff. I don’t even like this series. In fact, I pretty much hate the entire concept and the characters. Oops. But you know, this is one of those series that is so ridiculously cheesy and addictive that it might not be bad to pick up if you’re feeling it. Also, I think that this series was continued but I’ve only read these 3!
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
You can pretty much pick up any Rainbow Rowell book for a happy read, but this one is especially cute. I read this book years ago, but I still come back to it over and over because of how nice it is to read. Cath’s characterization is brilliant and her passion for her favorite book series is just so relatable for us readers. Forever a favorite of mine.
What if It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera
I had an idiotic grin on my face practically the entire time I was reading this. Of course there’s a little sadness and angst (I mean Adam Silvera is involved), but this was still one of the purest books I’ve read all year. Arthur & Ben will be some of your favs and I can’t wait for everyone to read this when it comes out in October.
