Tag: Dreamy Book Covers

I’m here with another tag and I’m ridiculously excited about this one!!

This fun tag was originally created by Tiana @ The Book Raven and the wonderful Ashley @ Book Tales was kind enough to tag me in this. Thank you, Ashley❤️ You guys should check out her blog if you get the chance. I always enjoy reading her posts and she takes the most stunning pictures of books.

Ahh like I said, I’m way too excited about this tag though. I’m a little (read: extremely) in love with book covers, so answering these questions is going to be great. Okay, here we go:

The Rules

1. Thank the lovely person who tagged you, spread the love!

2. Mention Tiana @ The Book Raven as the creator of this book tag!

3. Use the original tag image in your post. (However, feel free to add whatever other graphics your heart desires!)

4. At least tag 1 fellow blogger for this tag.

5. List the rules

“No Ideas But in Things” A book cover that perfectly expresses the novel inside it

They Both Die at The End by Adam Silvera

Oops, sorry to start this post off with one of the saddest books on the planet, but I think this cover is pretty accurate. Rufus and Mateo spend this book hanging out around New York City but also… the scythe in the shadow. I never even noticed that until someone pointed it out and now I can’t unsee it.

“Sugary Sweet” A cute cover that is so fluffy you want to give it a hug

A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall

I have to admit that the only reason I picked up this book was because of the cover. It’s ridiculously cute and fun. But… I didn’t actually like the book. I should probably learn to not to judge a book by it’s cover at this point, except I’m still guilty of doing it anyway.

“The Simple Aesthetic” A book cover that stuns with the most minimalistic of design

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Oh I love this one. It’s simplistic and cute and the pastel theme makes me feel all happy inside. Whenever I’m at the bookstore, this cover catches my eye and I think wow I should get that book it’s so pretty but then I’m like Brianna, you literally already own it.

“Cover Envy” A book cover you wish you had on your shelves, but don’t yet

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

This has to be one of the most gorgeous covers I’ve ever seen, to be honest. I’m kind of in love with the colors. And the typography. And the whole thing. I do want to read this eventually, so I hope to get this book soon so I can stare at it at home instead of the store.

“Traveling Abroad” A book cover featuring a country outside of your own

Anna and The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

This book is adorable and it makes me want to visit Paris so badly. Also I actually struggled to find a cover for this question. Does anyone else feel like we need more YA books that are not set in the United States? I always get way too excited when a book doesn’t take place in this country because I want to experience other places and cultures. Any recommendations are appreciated.

“The Color Wheel” A cover that showcases one of your favorite colors

Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is an intensely purple cover, but I love it because it’s one of my favorite colors. I really think all of the covers in the Covenant series are beautiful and go together so well. And also, this is a great series that never did get the hype it deserved.

“Switching Gears” A cover change you absolutely adore

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I’ll never forget finding Shatter Me for the first time in my school library years ago. It was the cover on the left so I’m surprised I even picked it up in the first place. I mean, I’m glad I did, but I’m even more glad that they changed the cover to the one with the eye. I personally thought the original cover was quite unappealing.

“And the Winner is…” Which book cover mentioned above is your favorite?

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

I have to go with the only book I don’t own and haven’t read. It’s just so well designed and I can’t get over how beautiful it is.

Thank you again to Ashley for tagging me! This was really a lot of fun. I’m going to nominate these lovely people next:

Alyssa Grace @ Serendipitous Reads | Shannon @ Shelfish for Books | Abbie @ The Fuzzy Bookworm

I’d love to see your answers but no pressure to do this whatsoever! And anyone else who wants to do this tag, you’re more than welcome to. 🙂

Thanks for reading, you guys❤️

  1. I didn’t even notice the scythe on the cover of They Both Die At The End until you just mentioned it! Also I think I definitely bought A Little Something Different for the cover, it’s so pretty! Eleanor & Park has possibly one of my favourite covers of all time – it’s so simple but it’s so beautifully done

    1. I know, I can’t believe I never noticed the scythe and it’s actually so clever… but so sad😭 A Little Something Different is such a beautiful cover! And E&P is one of my favorites too; I love how minimalist and cute it is 🙂

  2. I love talking about book covers! Despite the saying a lot of my first impressions are formed from them and they do affect my enjoyment of a book quite a bit. Thanks for the tag, this looks like it’ll be so fun!

    1. Exactly! I try not to judge them by their covers, but sometimes I can’t help it. And you’re welcome; can’t wait to hear your answers if you do the tag 🙂

    1. The scythe😭 It’s subtle but I think it just makes the cover. And I know right, I will never get over the Caraval covers!! They’re way too pretty tbh.

  3. Great choices Brianna! They really fit the question 🙈
They Both Die At End made my heart break into a million tiny pieces. And the cover was so smart. Having the scythe following them *I applaud whoever designed it*
I haven’t read A Little Something Different, in fact I’ve never heard of it. But it seems interesting (yes I’m judging a book by it’s cover even tho I shouldn’t).
Caraval was an ok book. Personally I liked the second book way better, but we all can’t deny that the cover is stunning!
I love Anna and The French Kiss, and the Covenant series was also pretty good. A lot of people aren’t fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout, but personally I love a lot of her work. Have you read The Problem With Forever (by her)?
Lastly (i’m sorry my comments are always so long 😅) I totally agree that YA books need to be set in other places. Like LA’s cool and all but give me a contemporary romance set in China or Slovenia or something.

    1. I LOVE YOUR LONG COMMENTS! Seriously though They Both Die at The End is heartbreaking and the cover is way too perfect.
A Little Something Different wasn’t great. Honestly I don’t remember much of it haha. But it’s cheesy and cute! It’s just not wonderful.
I hear Caraval is good but maybe not worth ALL the hype! I’m excited to read it but not desperate to.
I remember being obsessed with Covenant when I read it but I don’t know how good it is anymore tbh. I just thought it didn’t get enough attention at the time lol but I’m glad you liked it too!
And YES I have read The Problem With Forever.
I’m so glad you agree that we need more YA books set outside the US esp contemporary because there’s not enough!!

      1. Aw thank you! I might look more into A Little Something Different…maybe.
Ya Caraval really isn’t worth all the hype, but it’s not terrible or anything. Trust me, I wasn’t in a hurry to read it too. I had the book for like 8 months or something and i didn’t read it until this one day.
I was never obsessed with the Covenant series, but I really enjoyed it. I also don’t know how good it is anymore b/c I read (and listened to) the books maybe 3-4 years ago? But I’m totally in love with The Problem With Forever 😂

  4. Yay I’m so happy that you did this! I can’t believe I forgot all about the Shatter Me cover change! It’s quite drastic and the new ones are STUNNING! I remember waiting for months until I could get the new editions to finally read the book 😂

Yesss I’m so in love with the new Shatter Me covers and I’m glad I ended up buying those as well! They’re so pretty😍
And the simplicity of the E&P cover is so nice, right? It’s one of my favorites!

  7. Ooh, these covers are all so pretty! Except for the first version of the Shatter Me cover… it’s… something. The ones with the eyes are super cool though, even though I’m not really a fan of gigantic eyeballs (they creep me out a little), I just think it’s such a cool design!

    1. Wait that’s hilarious because I used to have Ignite Me facing outward on my bookshelf but it’s not anymore because it kind of creeped me out 😂😂 It’s so pretty though!
