Hello & happy Friday! I’m very excited for today’s post because I’m going to be sharing some books I’m hyped to read in 2019. YAAAY for new releases!
I genuinely cannot believe how many excellent books are coming in to existence next year. 2019 is going to be full of endless faves, and in all honesty, I have never been more excited about a list of upcoming books in my entire life. I’m very, very, very much looking forward to all of these.
First I’m going to share the top ten books I’m anticipating (in order from least to greatest) and then I’ll also include some honorable mentions afterwards!
Okay let’s do this:
10. The Great Unknowable End by Kathryn Ormsbee
For some reason, ever since I came across this book, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It appears to be a unique mixture of magical realism and historical fiction, PLUS it includes representation for mental health and neurodiversity (yay!). The entire concept of this is so very intriguing to me and it sounds exactly like a story I’m going to fall in love with.
Release date: February 29th, 2019
9. Wicked Saints by Emily A Duncan
I’ve been seeing this book around for ages, but only recently looked up what it’s about… and now I want to read it immediately. The synopsis alone has me desperate to read it. Supposedly this is some kind of dark fantasy that involves a trio of characters who have to assassinate a king and stop a war? Sign me uppp.
Release Date: April 2, 2019
7. The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman
This book is some sort of mix between Stranger Things and The Raven Boys, which isn’t something I knew I needed, but now that it exists, it’s everything I ever I wanted and more. In this article, it’s described as “a contemporary fantasy that follows a group of teens with chilling secrets and unnatural power who must battle a monster to save their town.” I’m already sold, folks. SOLD.
Release Date: April 2, 2019
7. Again, But Better by Christine Riccio
Typing the words ‘by Chritine Riccio’ just made my heart soar. I’ve been watching Christine on Booktube since 2014 and she is quite literally one of my favorite people on this planet. I’m just so proud of her for writing a BOOK. And it sounds so GOOD! It’s a story that involves college and finding yourself and the general complications that come with becoming an adult. This is already relating to me too much!
Release Date: May 7, 2019
6. I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver
First of all, this cover is a work of art. Second of all, this story sounds incredible, but also like it’ll shatter my heart in a million pieces. This follows a nonbinary teen navigating life, friendship, and romance after being thrown out of their house by their parents. There’s also rep for an anxiety disorder, which always means the world to me. I already love this powerful and beautifully diverse book.
Release Date: May 14, 2019
5. The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
This book! Okay, this sounds too good. It’s set in Paris in the late 1800’s, involves a misfit group of characters, some kind of adventure, and a magical artifact. That’s about all I needed to know to preorder this one. And this also just gives me so many Six of Crows vibes, and that’s a sure sign I’ll love it. I’m absolutely dying to read this one.
Release Date: January 15, 2019
4. King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
Ever since I read the Grisha trilogy, I have been so ridiculously hyped for this. There are very few characters in this world that I love as much as Nikolai Lantsov, and the fact that we are getting a whole duology about him is kind of the greatest thing ever. And as if it couldn’t get any better, this book also features some of my fave iconic Grisha girls, Zoya and Nina! I’m beyond ready for this. Also this cover gives me chills, it’s so epic.
Release Date: January 29, 2019
3. The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu
Dreams do come true because we are getting an entire series about Alec and Magnus, and this first book is only a few months away. I’ve adored these two since The Mortal Instruments, and it is so extremely special that there is going to be a series about them. This is the type of Shadowhunters content that is going to make my life and I would like it to be April right now please.
Release Date: April 2, 2019
2. Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell
This was supposed to come out in 2020, but Rainbow Rowell has blessed us all and confirmed that this will indeed come out next year! Carry On is one of those books I love with my entire being and I just never imagined a day that there would be a sequel. I well and truly cried when this book was announced (I’m just… really excited, okay?). I cannot wait for the cover reveal, and for the release date, and of course, for this book that is certainly going to join my favorites.
Release Date: TBA
1. Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
This… still doesn’t feel, and I’ve been trying to convince myself it’s actually happening. This is the first book in The Last Hours series, a sequel to the series of my heart, The Infernal Devices. And it is my single most anticipated release of all time. I’ve been waitings so many years to read it, and I cannot believe we now have a COVER (and a gorgeous one at that – Cordelia is looking fierce) and a RELEASE DATE. This book will be in my hands next year and I’ve honestly never, in my entire life, been more excited for anything.
Release Date: November 19, 2019
And that is it for my ten most anticipated releases! I’m still reeling because of this list. There are just too many good books coming out, and it’s just going to be the absolute best year of reading.
I also have tons and tons of other books I’m looking forward to in 2019, so I’d thought I’d share some honorable mentions:
- Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
- Sorcery of Thorns by Maragaret Rogerson
- All Our Broken Pieces by L.D. Crichton
- A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
- You Asked For Perfect by Laura Silverman
- To Best the Boys by Mary Weber
- The Fever King by Victoria Lee
Also! Some of my favorite authors have the following books (maybe?) coming out in 2019. There’s not much information yet so I’m not 100% sure if these will be released next year, but I’ll include them anyway because I am full of excitement:
- Untitled book 4 of Marie Lu’s Legend Series
Untitled fantasy book by Adam Silvera– Adam just confirmed on Instagram that this’ll release in January 2020 !
- Untitled Loki YA by Mackenzi Lee
Okay that was a LOT of books but I cannot even tell how excited I am for each and every one of these! It feels like such a great time for YA. I could not be more proud of these authors or more excited for our community to get their hands on these new releases.
I hope you all have the best weekend, and that you’ve also been getting hyped for all of the 2019 books that are coming our way! ❤️❤️❤️
I’d love to know
What 2019 releases have you been anticipating? Any I mentioned in this post?! What other 2019 releases do you think I need to add to my TBR?
