The Wonderstruck Book Tag // AKA The Tag of My Dreams

I don’t think I’ve ever had a chance to talk about this on here before, but here’s a fun fact about me: I’m a massive fan of Taylor Swift. And by ‘massive fan,’ I mean I own all of her albums, know all the lyrics to all of her songs, have been to three of her concerts, own way too much merchandise, and have spent countless hours listening to her music over the years. I’m… very dedicated.

So it’s safe to say that when I saw my friend Olivia created a tag that combines Taylor Swift AND books, I was beyond ecstatic. I mean, this really is the tag of my dreams. Thank you for tagging me and for creating this, Olivia! And thank you to Tiffany, my sweet friend and fellow Swiftie, for tagging me as well. ❤

Guidelines:

  • Link back to the creator (Olivia)
  • Answer as many or as few of the questions as you’d like.
  • Feel free to use any of the graphics in this post. 🙂
  • Tag however many people you’d like at the end!

Okay let’s get on to the best tag of my life!!

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silveraimg_1472

The whole time I was reading this, I was just thinking: it’s not going to happen, it’s not going to happen, it’s NOT going to HAPPENI was in major denial even though there’s a… very clear warning. I should’ve trusted that the title was accurate and that Adam Silvera will take any chance he gets to emotionally destroy us. Instead, at the end, I was (stupidly) shocked at what happened and left a weeping mess. I don’t think I’ll ever recover from this book honestly.

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

The amount of time I’ve spent reminiscing on this book is astronomical and I only just read for the first time in October. Since then, I’ve been thinking about it a lot and trying to resist rereading it. This series is just so calming and captivating and I really want to relive the experience I had when I read it. Pretty sure I’ll be doing a reread at some point this year.

Legend by Marie Lu2DAE8056-83E1-4667-8D23-8B89DCA2653D.jpeg

Wouldn’t this be an epic movie adaptation? There’s so much potential here and I can totally see the concept of this book making for a great movie. Plus, June and Day on the big screen! I need that in my life. I’ve been hoping for years that an adaptation would become a reality, and I know there’ve been rumors floating around about one, but I’m not sure if anything has been confirmed yet. PLEASE let this happen.

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani ChokshiD24D660C-8752-449C-AC41-988803716CAE.jpeg

So I haven’t actually read this yet, but ever since I first saw this cover, I haven’t been able to get over how stunning it is. Like, when I saw the book in person at Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago, I almost screamed right there at the store. It is TOO pretty. I’m just so in love with the gold and the leaves and AH. It’s so majestic. Also if you’ve read this already, you should let me know if you liked it! I’m planning to read it very soon and would love to hear opinions.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I’m well aware City of Bones isn’t the most quality piece of literature out there. I get that. But this book (and entire series) still means the world to me. Since it was my first introduction to the Shadowhunters universe, it holds a very special place in my heart. It makes me sad that TMI gets so much hate and I’ll defend it forever. I mean, if anything, this series did give us the legend that is Isabelle Lightwood so I feel like we can at least appreciate it for that, right?

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

My go-to answer would normally be Harry Potter, but I’ll switch it up and go with The Lightning Thief. I actually read PJO before I read HP so, in some ways, it makes me even more nostalgic. It was my original fandom, Percabeth was my first OTP ever (long before I even knew what that was haha), and this series basically defined my childhood. I often get sentimental thinking about it because it brings back the best memories.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
3E66C1E5-A6C7-424C-A01C-2EC6B0A93037.jpeg

I don’t often instantly click with books. It usually takes me a bit to get really in to them. But I remember as soon as I read the first sentence of A Darker Shade of Magic, I was immediately intrigued. And after just a few pages, I knew this series was going to become a favorite. It was one of those rare situations where I was captivated from the start. And to this day, this series remains one of the greatest things I’ve ever read in my life.

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

You know those books that just stick with you over the years for no apparent reason? I read The Outsiders for school back in 7th grade and it has remained my favorite classic since then. I’ve also watched the movie too many times to count. It’s just such a great story that I’ll never get tired of revisiting. Even though the ending never fails to shatter my heart in to a million pieces.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Can I go two seconds without talking about Carry On? Apparently not. I know I bring up this book way too much, but I feel obligated to mention Simon and Baz if we’re talking about favorite romances. I mean, this enemies-to-lovers situation is simply iconic. I just love these two, and their entire love story, more than words can say. The fact that we’re getting more Snowbaz content THIS YEAR still seems too good to be true.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Before I read this, I knew I was going to end up getting way too invested in it and that it would become an all time favorite. And guess what? That is exactly what happened. I couldn’t help falling in love with this book because it has everything I’ve ever wanted. A found family, magic, banter, mental health rep, an enemies to lovers situation, a character driven plot… I mean, EVERYTHING. It’s too good and I don’t think I’ll ever get over it.

Matched and Crossed by Ally Condie3D63B408-F317-481A-BDE9-040CDBD2F10E

Saying I loved Matched is bit of a stretch (it was more of a 3 star read for me) but Crossed? I… really, really did not like that sequel. It was honestly one of the most dreadful books I’ve ever read. And what’s even worse is I’ve actually read both of these books twice. When the last book in the trilogy came out, I decided I wanted to finish the series (I have NO IDEA why) so I reread the first two for a refresher. I’m currently questioning past Brianna’s decision to spend so much time on this series.

Okay, well THAT was probably the most fun I’ve ever had writing a blog post because I got to rave about favorite books while blasting Taylor Swift songs. I should do that more often. Also, this tag is just everything. I love it.

I’m going to tag Allie, Sarah, Aline, Arin, and Xandra to do this next! But if any of you don’t like Taylor Swift, or just don’t want to/don’t have time, no pressure at all to do this tag. Also, if you aren’t tagged, but want to do this… feel free! Just make sure to link back to Olivia.

I hope you’re all having a great Wednesday! ❤

I’d love to know

Have you read any of the books I mentioned in this post? What’d you think of them? Do you like Taylor Swift as much as I do!? What are your favorite songs by her?

  1. I love Taylor Swift, and I was already thinking about doing this tag! (Some of my favorite songs include Wonderstruck, State of Grace, and Holy Ground. I’ve never been to one of her concerts, but I turned down the opportunity several years ago and I regret it now!) Thanks for tagging me 😀

I know nothing has been confirmed about the Legend movie, but I’ve been wanting for it to happen for so long! And I would say I’ve read about half of the books you have here, but I’m still trying to read The Gilded Wolves and A Darker Shade of Magic soon!

    1. YAY I’m so happy you love Taylor Swift too!! Ahh State of Grace is one of my all time faves. And oh my goodness, I turned down going to both her Fearless and Reputation tours and I regret it so much now! Awh if only we could go back and tell our past selves to go😭 haha

I really hope the Legend movie actually happens! I’ve seen talk of an adaptation around for a while but we’ll just have to hope it comes true. And I hope you love ADSOM! It’s so great. And same, I can’t wait to read The Gilded Wolves!

I’m looking forward to seeing your answers if you do the tag!! 💕

      1. I’m a little upset at myself right now because I’m currently listening to the Speak Now album, and I just realized that I meant ENCHANTED is one of my favorite songs! 🤣 In addition to it being a great song, I also like it because it’s supposed to be about when Taylor met one of my other favorite artists, Adam Young from Owl City. He even did a cover of Enchanted and he changed some of the lyrics to make it sound like a response – it was just really cute ❤️

      2. Hahaha no you’re totally fine, I knew which song you meant😂 Enchanted is lovely ahh. And oh yeah that’s right, I do remember Adam Young’s version of it! So cuuuute!

    1. Isn’t it such a great tag?? I love it! And I’m so glad to you understand where I’m coming from with Matched haha. It just… wasn’t good. I seriously have no idea why I felt determined to finish the series and reread them lol😂

      1. I applaud you, I couldn’t even get through the first book in the Shiver series haha! But they really are pretty so I get it

    1. It is such a nice tag! You can totally do it if you’d like to. And AGH right? I was convinced TBDATE would have a different ending😭 I didn’t want to accept it either haha

    1. Agreed!! Legend would be such a great movie – as long as they stick to the book and don’t ruin it lol. Fingers crossed it’ll happen one day!

  2. This is such a fun tag, and I love all of your answers! I TOTALLY feel you on the Matched/Crossed thing — I loved Matched, but found Crossed incredibly boring. But I forced myself through because, like you, I wanted to read the third book… and it didn’t really get any better. (The third book was slightly less boring, if I remember correctly, probably bc the MC actually returned to society instead of being out in… the desert? I really don’t remember the plot lol.) Anyways, all I have to say is — oh well. That’s a few hours of my life I’ll never get back 😂

    1. Awh thanks so much Alex! And YES you get me!! For some reason, I was determined to finish the entire series even though it was pretty awful😂 I also remember the third book being a *little* better than Crossed (thank goodness)! Still… I regret spending so much time on that series which was mediocre at best lol. Thanks for your comment! 💕

    1. YES exactly. Strange the Dreamer is one of those books I just cannot get over because it was such a masterpiece?? I love it way too much. Honestly PJO can definitely be counted as a piece of childhood no matter how old you were when you first read it. It just has that FEEL. And right?? SoC is a gift to this world, truly.
Thanks so much May!! and lmao same I have so many songs stuck in my head from this tag💞💞💞

  4. Love love loveee this post!! I actually haven’t read any of the books you mentioned (oops DON’T KILL ME 🙈), except PJO, but they’re all on my TBR – and I’ll read them someday, I swear. This post made me really happy to read, haha, I love reading about your love for Taylor Swift and books 💕

I can’t wait to read TBDATE (especially now since it’s gonna be a TV show!!), Strange the Dreamer, and SOC!! They’re all so hyped and I can’t wait to (hopefully) fall in love with them as much as you (and everyone else) did. 😍 And you already now how much I love PJO – I’ll never not love that series. 😭💙 I honestly can’t wait for you to read HOO!! And lovely post as always, Brianna 😊

    1. Hahaha you’re good😂 I’m just glad you’ve read PJO because AHHH. That series truly owns my heart. But omg yes you definitely need to read TBDATE (especially for the show hehe) and Strange the Dreamer and SOC too of course🥰 They’re so so so worth the hype. I can’t wait to read HOO either!! I promise I’ll try to get to it in the next couple months lol. thank you so much Dezzy!!! 💖💖💖

  5. AHH, YOU’RE SO KIND, THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS.💗Every time I read a Wonderstruck tag post, I just get so happy, because it just makes my heart SO full that people like my tag. Eek, just thank you so much, my fellow Swiftie. *cries* *hugs you*

Oh my gosh, I was completely in denial with TBDATE too! I was like, “there’s no way Adam Silvera would just give away the ending in the title…no, that won’t happen.” I really don’t think I’ll recover from this book either?! Adam permanently damaged my heart.

Percy Jackson has so much nostalgia for me too! He’s the original sass master and I can’t go long without a Percy Jackson reread. And PERCABETH. My heart.

I’m so interested in reading A Darker Shade of Magic! I’m not quite sure why I haven’t yet, I think maybe just because I’m not usually a fantasy reader, but it just looks so intriguing and the cover is gorgeous and I just really think I should read it.

THE OUTSIDERS. Do it for Johnny. *cries for a thousand years*

This post was so, so fun to read, I loved it! Thank you again for doing this tag. 🙂

    1. Awww Olivia thank YOU for creating this tag! I absolutely love it and I had so much fun working on it☺️

Oh I’m so glad I’m not the only one who was in denial about the end of TBDATE😭 I mean, we should’ve known haha… but STILL, that one hurt a lot.

YES same. PJO is really the most nostalgic series. And ahhhh Percabeth is precious, I love them so much.

Oooh you should totally read Shades of Magic! It actually was the series that helped me get back in to fantasy after only reading contemporary for a LONG time lol. I couldn’t recommend it enough!

And oh NOOO the end of the Outsiders😭 The pain is real.

Thanks Olivia!! I’m so glad you enjoyed my answers and THANK YOU for this wonderful tag💕💕💕

  6. YOU ARE A DEDICATED SWIFTIE DANG ❤

Also, I loved all of your answers. I was actually seriously debating to pick the Matched series as my last answer too. I totally agree with you on City of Bones. It was a nice read at the time but it's definitely not quality pieces of literature, but it'll still hold a special place in my heart because it sets up the whole Shadowhunter world. It's also amazing to see how much Cassandra Clare has improved in terms of writing and world-building. I would love to see Legend as a movie too!! I can't wait for Legend #4 🙂

    1. HAHA YES TS FOR LIFEEE💖

Aw thank you!! The Matched series was just… not great, right? Crossed was honestly awful lol. And yessss you get me! TMI isn’t super quality but it was still a lot of fun to read and I love it. CC has definitely come a long way since then, I agree. Omg Legend is so so so good and I can’t wait for #4 either ahh!! I’m really happy she’s continuing the series🥰

  7. Ahh I love Taylor Swift’s songs too ahaha they’re so catchy and fun to listen to!!

Legend would be SUCH a cool movie oh my gosh. I love that series! TBDATE WAS SO HEARTBREAKING OH MY GOSH. I’m so excited it’s being adapted into a tv series?! But also curious as to how that’s going to happen ahah.

The Lightning Thief is also so nostalgic for me ahhh!! So many amazing memories attached with that series, I think I read it before Harry Potter too haha. The Shades of Magic series though! YES! What an absolutely AMAZING series oh my gosh

The sequel to Matched was SO BAD I agree, yikes. I forced myself to finish the series, but I didn’t end up liking the third either… oof.

    SIX OF CROWS THOUGH. YES.

Anyway this was longer than I was expecting, I loved reading your answers for this tag! Thanks so much for tagging me!

Wouldn’t Legend be a great movie?? I’m really hoping we get one someday! Fingers crossed. AND AHH TBDATE. I’m both excited and nervous for that show… I’m just not ready to be heartbroken again😭

Gotta love the nostalgia and memories that come with PJO! AND YES YES YES Shades of Magic is spectacular. I’m so glad to know you’ve read it bc I don’t know nearly enough people who have and I just love it SO MUCH.

Ugh right?? Crossed was awful. I regret forcing myself to finish that series because, same, I didn’t care for the third one either oops.

SOC IS A MASTERPIECE. Love it.

Haha no worries, I appreciate the long comment!! Thanks! And of course, I’ll look forward to reading your answers if you decide to do the tag💖
