5-Star Predictions: Eight Books on My TBR I Suspect I’m Going To LOVE

You know those books on your TBR you haven’t gotten to yet, but you have the strongest feeling they’re going to become all time favorites? And whenever you come across them, you think how have I not read this yet when I’m certain I’m going to rate it 5 stars?

I’ve found that I have lots of books like this.

But today, I’m going to share with you just eight from my TBR that I think have the potential to be 5 star reads for me. I usually have a pretty good instinct for which books I’m going to love, but of course, I could be totally wrong about these. I mean, I sure hope I’m not. But I definitely could be.

This list is only going to include books that have already been released. No anticipated releases on here (that list would get much too long), but you can check out my 2019 anticipated releases here if you wish to. Most of those I think will be 5 star reads as well!

Okay, on to the books ! –

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I’m not normally *super* in to sci-fi so including this on a list of predicted 5 star reads could be iffy, but the more I hear about this book, the more I think this could be a favorite. I’m way behind on the hype for this series (I’ve been… mildly intimidated by the length and format of these books) but I’m ready to finally join in. Also, I always hear about how excellent the audiobooks are so I’m quite intrigued.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This book is written by Taylor Jenkins Reid (the author who brought us the masterpiece that is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo) and I hear it’s inspired by Fleetwood Mac so that was all I needed to know to add it to this list. Rumours is one my top favorite albums of all time so I can’t wait to read this and listen to it even more excessively. I feel like this is one of those books that was made for me so I’m desperate to read it soon.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I’m pretty sure I’ve started this like… 3 times over the last few years and just never continued it for whatever reason. A shame, really, because I truly think this is going to be 5 stars if I ever get around to finishing it. It’s definitely a time period I’m interested in and it seems like an incredibly powerful story. I also loved Markus Zusak’s I Am The Messenger so I have a very good feeling about this one.

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I was only vaguely aware of this book before, but recently it’s became one of the most hyped up books in the community. Now I’m so very intrigued. This is high fantasy (my fave) and supposedly female-centric (love that). So basically, it seems like something I’m going to instantly love. It is a monster of a book at 848 pages so I’ll likely hold off on reading it until the summer. I’ll be waiting impatiently.

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Alright I apparently need to read some Jay Kristoff. I’ve been meaning to get around to this book for months but it just hasn’t happened yet. At this point, I’ve decided to wait until closer to the release date of Darkdawn to start this series so I won’t have to wait for that last book. Truthfully, I know very little about this book other than it’s fantasy and everyone seems to rave about it. Really, those are my only two requirements to add it to this list.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

I’m 150% sure I’m going to finally get around to reading this sometime this year because I absolutely need to. I’ve only heard spectacular things about this book is and, of course, how incredibly important the subject matter is. This has also been on the NYT Bestseller List for 106 weeks (!!!) and it’s the highest rated YA contemporary book on Goodreads. I can’t see this being anything other than 5 stars, honestly.

I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman

I promise I’m actually going to read this someday. Every time I include it in a blog post, I’m internally screaming at myself about not having gotten to it yet. I’m almost certain this is going to be 5 stars because it’s Alice Oseman, involves music, and I’ve heard how excellent it is. Although I don’t think I’ll ever love this more than Radio Silence, I can definitely see it becoming a favorite.

The Weight of Our Sky by Hanna Alkaf

I have no doubt this is going to be a 5 star read for me. In fact, I can see this becoming one of my all time favorite books. It’s historical fiction that includes diversity and mental health rep (I was sold already when I found all that out), PLUS it supposedly involves music (I’m seeing a running theme on this list). I’m pretty sure I’m going to give this the highest of ratings and all the praise possible. I can’t wait.

And that’s it! Well, not really, because I have so many other books on my TBR that have the potential be 5 star reads. But that’s all I’ll include for this list. I might continue doing more posts like this in the future since it was pretty fun to guess which books will be favorites. I’ll be interested to come back to this to see if these predictions were accurate… and hopefully they are!

Hope you’ve all been doing well and have been having a great March! ❤

I’d love to know

Which books on your TBR do you think you’ll rate 5 stars? Have you read any on my list? What did you think of them? Any on your TBR?

Nevernight sounds so intimidating tbh!! I have a feeling it’ll be good but also, like, a lot to deal with lol. I’ll let you know what I think for sure.

  5. I’ve recently added The Weight of our Sky to my wishlist as well because I’ve seen so many amazing reviews of it! It sounds absolutely fantastic and it’s making me think I really need to explore more YA historical fiction!

Now I’m thinking about all the books on my wishlist that I hope will be 5 star reads… hmm, I’m going to go with Six of Crows… A List of Cages… and Girls of Paper and Fire. 🙂

    1. Aw yay, I’m so glad to hear you added The Weight of Our Sky to your wishlist! I agree, it does fantastic. And YES same here, I really want to read more YA historical fiction. It’s a great genre!

Oooh I’m super excited for you to read Six of Crows! It’s one of my favorites. That’s funny, I’m actually reading A List of Cages right now and loving it! And I’ve heard so many excellent things about Girls of Paper and Fire. I hope all of those books end up being 5 star worthy for you✨

  6. YOU MUST READ THE HATE U GIVE! I will not say anymore on that though, I am SURE you hear more than an earful on that subject.

As for The Book Thief, I literally just finished reading it, and I ended up not really liking it at all, which was disappointing. I think though, if you have read and enjoyed his other books, you may in fact like this one as well… I think I may still pick up Bridge of Clay because from what I am hearing, people who really loved The Book Thief really did not like this one, so I am hoping the opposite will be true as well.

    1. AHH I definitely need to prioritize reading The Hate U Give soon!! I can’t wait.

Aw I’m really sorry The Book Thief wasn’t a good read for you. That’s so disappointing! I’ve had such high expectations since I loved his other book I Am The Messenger so hopefully I’ll have better luck. And I hope you end up enjoying Bridge of Clay more!! Thanks so much for your comment Samantha☺️ happy reading!

I really want to read the hate U give because I saw a quote from it the other day and I was like ‘that is amazing quote, I need to read it’ and it has done so well. I am so happy about that!!
And I have read the book thief and I can say it is a fabulous book!!! And I love the last line in it so you should definitely read it so you can see that line!! haha!!
And then everyone other book on your list I need to read– so many books, so little time!! Great post ❤

  9. Honestly Illumimae was one of my favourite books I read last year and I think you’d love it too! The characters and so great, and the audiobooks are just as amazing as you’ve heard! I’m currently reading Nevernight and I was a bit slow getting into it but I love it now. Off my TBR I’m pretty sure The Knife of Never Letting Go will be a 5 star read for me, I’ve not read any Patrick Ness before but I just have a feeling I’ll love it! ❤️

  10. Omg I desperately need to read Illuminae and Nevernight as well!! I’ve heard so many amazing things about these two 😍 But omg Illuminae’s size has definitely intimidated me as well, though I do acknowledge it has different formatting which might make it less long?? Anyway. I’m sure I’ll love these two!! 😂❤️ And ahhh YES I Was Born For This was so freaking good!! (If I read Radio Silence you must read I Was Born For This 😂😍) Loved this post!

    1. I thought the same thing about Illuminae! The size seems intimidating, but I imagine it goes by quickly because of the formatting?? We’ll have to see haha. But I hope you end up loving it, and Nevernight as well!! And AGH I cannot believe I still haven’t read IWBFT. You’re absolutely right, if you read Radio Silence then I have to read IWBFT😂 Dezzy has been hyping it up for me too and I JUST NEED TO READ IT ALREADY AHH. Hopefully I get around to it soon lol! Thanks so much Aline💞💕💞
