Top Ten Tuesday: Page to Screen Adaptations I Can’t Wait to See

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

I haven’t done Top Ten Tuesday for a while now but I couldn’t pass on today’s prompt: Page to Screen Freebie!! Like books, I tend to get (super) invested in movies and shows, so I’ll take any chance to talk about page to screen adaptations. Since there’s plenty I haven’t seen yet, and others that are still in the works, I thought I’d do this post about adaptations I’m looking forward to watching.

These adaptations are a mixture of both upcoming movies/shows and already released movies/shows that I’m very excited to see someday ~ !

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera16436C65-3513-4577-80A1-9159CC38D272

➤Adaptation: upcoming TV show on HBO

As if this book didn’t already destroy me enough, I now get to see it on screen! I honestly cannot wait to see how they adapt this one. I’m already happy that it’s being created as a show as opposed to a movie since I think that’ll work better based on the book’s pacing and storyline. Even if this doesn’t live up to my expectations, I’m excited that Adam Silvera is getting the recognition he deserves! He’s one of my absolute faves.image-5

The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater

➤Adaptation: upcoming TV show on Hulu

Alright, not gonna lie, I’m still a little wary about this one. Like, I’m hyped that it’s going to exist but at the same time, I don’t want it to be bad. The characters in this series are so well-developed and distinct on page so the casting could easily go wrong. I’m still looking forward to this show though as it does have the potential to be good. We’ll seeeee.image-5

A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh MafiD1A358F1-7140-430E-8693-3DF0F689F3CC

➤Adaptation: upcoming movie

It’s really, truly wonderful that a diverse and critically important book like this is getting an adaptation. I just hope they do this book justice on screen because it’s so so so good. I love this story a whole lot and it makes my heart happy knowing that it’ll reach a bigger audience.image-5

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. SchwabD5FCCD4C-DC43-47EE-85C6-5DFE247D0C9C

➤Adaptation: upcoming movie

Another one I have some mixed feelings on. This is one of my all time favorite series so I’d be pretty disappointed if it was poorly adapted. Since it’s high fantasy and the world building is so rich, portraying it on screen could be difficult I think. That being said, I’m keeping an open mind since we know so little about this movie anyway. I might be pleasantly surprised, which would be terrific.image-5

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin6DF6FB4A-D0CC-4388-B67C-EBB939ECCC46

➤Adaptation: TV show on HBO (2011-ongoing)

I’m not sure why I’m basically the only person on earth who hasn’t watched Game of Thrones yet, but that definitely needs to change soon. I’m like 99.9% sure I’m going to love it. The hype has been encouraging me to start it, so I hope to do that soon (probably this week) and I can’t waaait. I don’t have plans to read the books though, at least not anytime soon.image-5

What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera3749C747-B992-4B8D-A8FE-DBCF80131053

➤Adaptation: upcoming movie

Another Adam Silvera adaptation in the works!! I’m so proud. And I think this story is going to adapt really well on screen honestly. I’m sure it’ll be very cute and wholesome and a lot of fun and wow I need this in my life immediately.image-5

Shadow and Bone by Leigh BardugoB3D63F15-7CAE-4724-B96F-E46F7BEB0B1E

➤Adaptation: upcoming TV show on Netflix

I’m still in disbelief about this, but the Grishaverse is actually coming to Netflix!! I just never saw this coming. Even though the show is titled Shadow and Bone, they’re supposedly incorporating Six of Crows as well. Morphing the storylines does make me a little concerned. And also, like The Raven Cycle, these are well-developed characters on page so I’m kinda nervous. But I’m going to trust that things will work out. Hopefully???image-5

The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth9A59DCF1-6C1C-41C3-B0C3-EAEA03A2C132

➤Adaptation: movie (2018)

I had been seeing this book around occasionally but didn’t know a whole lot about it until recently when Arin read it and loved it, which then convinced me to try it out. I’m not going to watch the movie until after I read the book (maybe next month?) but I’m excited for both. I know this story is going to be powerful and make me feel all the emotions.image-5

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green0E00728D-75A3-4E0B-B2EB-0AED61B81330

➤Adaptation: upcoming movie

I’m both excited and nervous that this is being turned in to a movie. On one hand, it’s one of my favorite books so I’m happy that it was chosen for an adaptation. But on the other hand, it’s super important that the mental illness rep is portrayed well. If they mess that up and romanticize it or something, I’ll be sad. Hopefully things are done correctly because I want to love this movie so badly, and I want this book to get more exposure!!image-5

It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned VizziniC9ED313C-4FF6-4B1D-850D-12175DC3FFF2

➤Adaptation: movie (2010)

I’ve been meaning to watch this movie since last year (after I read the book) but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. The book is one of my all time favorites and it’s made a significant impact on me so I can’t wait to see this story come to life on screen. I’ll plan to watch it this summer!!

I’d love to know

What are some of your favorite page to screen adaptations? Which ones are you looking forward to watching? Are you excited for, or have you seen any, on my list??

    1. Yeah the TBDATE show was announced pretty recently and I’m so so so excited! It should be a good one. And oooh yes TRC is wonderful. I hope you enjoy it if you decide to pick it up! Thank you so much Hannah😃

    1. I’m looking forward to seeing TRC as a show as well! And I feel you on the Grishaverse show. There’s so many things that could go wrong, but we’ll just have to hope for the best haha! Thank you Claire😊

  1. Woah, TBDATE is getting adapted?? 😱 That’s so exciting!
I’m also nervous about the Raven Cycle show because it could be really good…or it could be REALLY bad, and I don’t want my favorite series to be disrespected like that! Same with the Grishaverse show. But I am really excited to see them come to life onscreen! 😀
I LOVED the Cameron Post book, though I still haven’t seen the movie – I hope you love it too!

    1. Yesss I’m hyped for the TBDATE show! I think it’ll be great. I totally agree, I think both TRC and the Grishaverse show could be excellent but there’s always potential for them to go really badly! Hopefully things go well though. We can only hope haha! And thanks so much, I’m looking forward to the Cameron Post book and movie🙂

  2. With how the last season of Game of Thrones is going on, I don’t know what to say. While this show has many of the greatest things to be seen on TV, it gets worse and worse in the last few seasons. So the first few seasons are a must watch that I would never not recommend watching but it’s headed towards a trainwreck of an ending.

    1. Ohhh yeah I’ve heard it does get worse! That’s so unfortunate. I still plan to give it a try but I’ll definitely keep what you said in mind. It’s really too bad that they’ve messed it up so much. Thanks for telling me though so I’m prepared!

  3. I haven’t watched Game of Thrones either!! But I read so many posts on it, I feel like I know what’s happening haha. The Miseducation of Cameron Post is good! Haven’t watched the movie, but I liked the book. It’s a bit slow at times, and the ending is open-ended, but there’s something about the story that I simply loved. Hope you enjoy it!

    1. Same here!! For someone who’s never seen the show, I feel like I know way too much about it haha. Ohh I’m super glad to hear you liked Cameron Post! I’m looking forward to reading it soon. Thank you! And thanks for your comment!
